WE BELIEVE
TM International is an organization that strives to be an integral global corporate citizen. We believe it is our responsibility to conduct business conscientiously — particularly in terms of product safety, ethics, human rights, workplace practices and environmental issues — and to seek out trading partners who also share this philosophy.
Our approach to our business is founded on 3 tenets:
A MISSION to make the world a happier place one temporary tattoo at a time,
A VISION to provide unique and safe forms of expression through culture, creativity and innovation, and
A GOAL to be the most trusted, compliant and recognized global source of temporary tattoos.
PRODUCT SAFETY
Temporary tattoos represent the greatest bulk of our product offering. As a primary designer and manufacturer of skin-contact products, we have adopted standards for the safety, quality and integrity of all our products and processes.
Through our safety protocols, all our temporary tattoos are skin-safe, FDA-compliant and use cosmetic-grade inks. In addition, our inks are free of animal by-products in either testing or production. It is our belief TM International provides the safest, most compliant temporary tattoos available in the market today.
To this end, the material composition of our products meets the legal guidelines of:
California Proposition 65, including safe levels of lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury, and phthalates.
The Consumer Product Safety Act of 2008 (CPSIA), Section 106 pursuant to ASTM F963-11-4.3.5.1(2)
Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
Title 16 (CPSC) Section 1303 - Section 1500.14 (a, b) Toxicological Risk Assessment
Title 21 (FDA) Sections 73, 74, 81, 82, 700-740
United States Pharmacopeial (USP) for Antimicrobial Effectiveness
USP <51>, <61>, <62>
Labeling of Hazardous Art Material Act (LHAMA) pursuant to ASTM D-4236
The Toxics In Packaging Prevention Act (TiPPA), for safe levels of lead, cadmium, chromium, and mercury.
Toxics in Packaging Clearinghouse (TPCH) for safe levels of lead, cadmium, chromium and mercury.
FDA Cosmetic Label Review Guidelines
In addition to this extensive testing, both our products and processes undergo regular 3rd party testing and audits, either through accredited compliance organizations or our large retail customers.
SPECIAL NOTE:
New FDA Compliance Regulations Coming in 2024
The Food and Drug Administration has announced that key provisions of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act (FDCA) will take effect in 2024. Referred to as the Modernization of Cosmetic Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA), these provisions are the most significant expansion of the FDCA since 1938. As a skin-contact product, our temporary tattoos are classified as a cosmetic product under the jurisdiction of this act. The activation of these provisions are underway, and California Tattoos is now an officially registered FDA Cosmetic Facility (#3010547620). We continue to work closely with the FDA to ensure our full compliance when MoCRA takes full effect at year’s end.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Our overall guiding principle is simple – act responsibly and ethically by focusing on a core group of values that define the scope of our social accountability. As we operate our own facility, we also apply these values to qualify, measure, and evaluate all of our vendor partners.
Wages, Benefits and Working Hours. We comply with all applicable wage, working hours, benefits, and overtime laws.
Discrimination. Our employment practices do not discriminate on the basis of age, nationality, race, religion, social or ethnic orientation, gender or disability. Furthermore, physical or verbal harassment or abuse is not tolerated.
Workplace Conditions. We provide a safe, healthy and secure workplace for all employees. Proper sanitation, lighting, ventilation and fire safety protection are provided.
Child and Forced Labor. We do not condone or use any form of forced labor, including indentured, prison, bonded or slave labor. Nor do we use any form of child labor. We comply with all minimum age provisions of local laws.
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
We believe that a commitment to the environment should be a core component of our business. To this end, we are committed to doing what we can to reduce the amount of waste our company generates that could have an adverse effect on our ecosystem. By actively managing our own environmental footprint— energy, water, and waste systems — we:
Abide by all local applicable environmental laws and regulations.
Recycle all of the scrap generated at our facility (pulpboard coasters, etc.).
Reuse most raw material cartons and packaging materials.
Participate in a company-wide recycling program to reclaim the everyday materials we use in our business (paper, bottles, aluminum).
Safety First: Ensuring Product Safety at TMI
TMI products meet the highest quality standards and adhere to all necessary requirements and voluntary standards set by the FDA, CPSC, and ASTM. Additionally, our products comply with relevant Canadian and European Union standards for cosmetics. We prioritize safety by ensuring that all TMI production employees undergo mandatory safety and production training.
Every TMI temporary tattoo product package includes a comprehensive ingredients list, as mandated by the FDA. Additionally, each individual tattoo bears a product number on the reverse side, along with a website link for consumers to report any safety concerns. Safety testing documentation can be provided by TMI upon request.
Embracing Social Responsibility: Building a Better Future
TMI upholds social accountability by implementing robust systems and processes that align with national, state, and local laws. We adhere to SEDEX's SMETA 4-Pillar Audit, which encompasses essential aspects such as preventing child labor, eliminating forced labor, ensuring health and safety, promoting freedom of association, upholding non-discrimination practices, addressing disciplinary procedures, regulating working hours, fair remuneration, and fostering effective management systems.
Ensuring Quality: Annual Testing for Excellence
At TMl, we are committed to producing products of the highest quality. To uphold this commitment, all our manufactured products undergo third party comprehensive annual testing. These tests are conducted to ensure that our products not only meet but also exceed the stringent regulations and requirements set by the United States, Canada, and European authorities.
